The new $3.2 Million, 59,400 square foot Air Structure Fieldhouse addition to Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois is a first for any public school in the state of Illinois. The dome is 330 feet long, 180 feet wide and 50 feet high. It houses four basketball courts, volleyball, tennis courts, and a 200-meter track. The school chose to go with the air structure instead of the traditional fieldhouse because it would free up construction funds to build an additional nine classrooms. Construction is being completed in two phases. The Fieldhouse (1st Phase) was completed and the second phase is currently underway to include 26 new classrooms, lockerrooms and technology wing.
