In November 1998, R & S Development enlisted us to design their new fabrication shop and office in Belvidere, Illinois. This new shop was to be a considerable expansion from the old office and enabled the flow of work to be more efficient.

The 22,000 square feet shop area has a drive-through railroad track in the south bay and indoor truck dock in the north bay. This was a major factor in the design because it allowed the steel to be delivered efficiently and secured in the evenings to prevent theft.

The office area has eight CAD stations for the draftsmen with countertops wide enough to lay out drawings and store below. Facilities for the shop workers and foremen directly adjoin the shop area and include a lunchroom, locker room and two offices.
